Autumn Zoo Keeper Talks – Free School Holiday Sessions at Alexandra Park Zoo

If your kids love animals, or you’ve got a budding wildlife expert who asks a lot of questions, keeper talks are one of the best free outings you can do in the school holidays. They are short, interesting, and give children a closer look at what happens behind the scenes without needing to plan a whole day around it. Alexandra Park Zoo’s Autumn School Holiday Keeper Talks offer extra chances to hear from the keepers who care for the animals every day, with different sessions focusing on different species.
The Autumn Zoo Keeper Talks run throughout the Easter school holidays from Saturday 4 April to Sunday 19 April 2026. Sessions are designed to share fun facts and keeper insights, and visitors may also get the chance to watch feedings up close. The talks are free, suitable for all ages, and no bookings are needed you simply meet the keeper at the relevant exhibit at the scheduled time. During the School Holidays the Zoo is open daily from 9:30am to 4:30pm, zoo entry is completely free.
Keeper talks are a great mix of learning and fun. Kids get to hear directly from the people who work with animals every day, which can spark curiosity and build understanding about animal care, habitats and conservation. It’s also an easy way to practise patience and listening skills, especially for younger children who enjoy short, focused activities. For families, it’s the kind of outing you can keep flexible arrive for a talk, explore the zoo at your own pace, and head off when everyone’s had their fill. And because it’s free, it’s a genuinely accessible school holiday option for local families.
