We want to strengthen our community by creating awareness & enhance accessibility of information that supports families living in Bundaberg and surrounding region. We provide opportunities for members of our community who may not be connecting with services or who are socially isolated to receive information & make decisions about participating in activities.
We promote the local area & encourage participation by documenting the Wide Bay Region through storytelling and publishing locally written evidenced informed articles and community engagement projects. We facilitate diverse networks working together to build relationships between services to foster a philosophy of inclusive activities & services for all.
Wide Bay Kids stand behind their Core Values:
Community: We believe in fostering a strong, connected community where families and individuals feel a sense of belonging. By sharing stories, promoting local events, and supporting community-led initiatives, we help create an environment where everyone can thrive.
Connection: We bridge the gap between families, businesses, and services to ensure everyone in the Wide Bay region has access to the information and support they need. Through media, storytelling, and community engagement, we create meaningful connections that enhance wellbeing and social cohesion.
Family: Families are at the heart of everything we do. We provide accessible information, activities, and services that support parents and caregivers, ensuring that all children in the Wide Bay region have opportunities to learn, play, and grow in a safe and nurturing environment.
Safety: We are committed to promoting safety for children, families, and the wider community by sharing valuable resources, advocating for evidence-based family-friendly initiatives, and working with organisations that prioritise child and family wellbeing.
Support: We recognise that not everyone has the same access to services or opportunities. That’s why we actively work to provide information and create pathways that connect socially isolated individuals and families to the support networks they need.
Inclusion: We champion inclusivity by promoting diverse voices, perspectives, and experiences within our community. Through our initiatives, we ensure that all families—regardless of background or circumstance—feel welcome, valued, and empowered to participate in community life.

How we started
Wide Bay Kids was founded in 2012 by twin sisters Angela Twyford and Gayle Reynolds.
The team started with a Facebook Page Wide Bay Kids by collecting information from across the web and posting it in one spot, so families could find things to do and services to use more easily.
Fast forward 11 years and Wide Bay Kids has transformed into a not for profit social enterprise overseen by a Board of Directors. The dedicated volunteers and parents and friends committee work tirelessly to provide services to include a website jam packed with information, events, activities, products, services and businesses.
Our activities are funded through advertising or sponsorships, working collaboratively with community organisations to collectively engage with our community by supporting local outreach projects, children’s events and much more!

"Wide Bay Kids was an excellent resource for promoting our children's show 'Wilbur the Optical Whale' to the younger audiences of Bundaberg. With a great reach in the community and a passion for promoting diverse kids' activities, they were simply wonderful to work with. We will definitely be contacting them again when we are back in town in the future. Thanks, Wide Bay Kids!"
