Big Games in the Park

Some school holiday days don’t need a big plan just a good park, a bit of movement, and kids who are ready to run. Big Games in the Park is the kind of activity that’s simple in the best way: outdoor games, fun challenges, and plenty of chances for kids to burn energy while parents enjoy a relaxed morning nearby. If your child loves classic playground games and anything that involves jumping, racing, exploring and “big muscle” fun, this one should be an easy yes.
Big Games in the Park is run by the Gin Gin Neighbourhood Centre and takes place on Wednesday 15 April 2026, from 10:00am to 12:00pm (Brisbane time). It’s being held at Dear Street Park at the bottom end of Dear Street in Gin Gin. The session is designed for children under 12, with an outdoor games and activity morning built around movement, playful challenges and classic favourites. It’s a free event and no bookings are necessary, so families can simply turn up and join in.
Active, unstructured play is one of the best things kids can do in the holidays. It supports physical skills like balance, coordination and strength, but it also helps children practise teamwork, turn-taking and confidence in a friendly, low-pressure setting. For families, events like this are a practical way to keep kids active without cost and they create a chance to connect with other local families in the community. Sometimes a simple morning of running and laughing outdoors is exactly what everyone needs.
