Bundaberg’s Fresh Food Scene: From Farm Gate to Dinner Plate

Taste the Real Bundaberg Difference
Bundaberg is one of the best places in Australia to get fresh, local produce without spending a fortune. Thanks to the rich red soil and warm weather, heaps of fruit and veg are grown right here and many farmers sell straight from their gate or at local stalls. Families can pick up everything from tomatoes, zucchini, capsicums and sweet corn to sweet potatoes, strawberries, snow peas, and even mangoes and macadamias. Buying local doesn’t just mean better prices, it’s fresher, supports local growers, and helps make everyday meals go further.

Sweet Potato Stall – 1838 Goodwood Road

G’day Farm Cart – 79 Churchill Street, Childers
Head into Childers and stop at Insane Caffeine, a bustling café perfect for coffee and brunch. Out front on Fridays and Saturdays (7am–1pm), you’ll find the G’day Farm Cart, a stall loaded with organically grown herbs, greens, and veggies, all picked the day before. Run by Greg and Dionne, the produce is grown using permaculture techniques and non-traditional farming methods, no nasties, just flavour.
Macadamias Australia – 4625 Goodwood Road, Childers
Stop in at Macadamias Australia. Famous for their dry-roasted and chocolate-coated macadamias, this family-owned farm offers tastings, gifts, and plenty of delicious reasons to stock your pantry or snack drawer.
Alloway Farmers Market – 1 Allow Siding Road, Alloway
If you're still hunting for produce, make a quick stop at the Alloway Farmers Market. You’ll find a mix of local fruits like avocados, tomatoes, figs, and more, depending on what’s in season. It's a great place to stock up for fresh salads or quick veggie sides.

Roadside Farm Stalls – Between Bargara & Elliott Heads
As you head toward the coast, keep an eye out for two honesty box farm stalls that pop up along this stretch. The first stall is known for garlic, avocados, and other seasonal treats, marked by small black-and-white signs. The second, a little tin shed tucked off the road, regularly stocks bags of potatoes, sweet potatoes, and bananas. Both stalls work on an honour system, so bring cash or coins — and check the signs to see what’s in season.
Tinaberries – 15 Zinks Road, Windermere
A true Bundaberg favourite, Tinaberries is the perfect mid-morning stop. During strawberry season (late May to October), you can grab a punnet of their famously sweet strawberries or try their pick-your-own experience. Even outside of berry season, Tinaberries draws crowds with its farm-made ice cream crafted using locally grown fruits like dragonfruit, passionfruit, and lime. Relax under the windmill, beside the old farmhouse, and enjoy a scoop in the middle of the fields.
Luscious Fruit – 968 Elliott Heads Rd
Visit Luscious Fruit, known for its frozen strawberries, rich sauces, and homemade jams, great for toppings, desserts, or lunchbox snacks. Just a little further down the road, you’ll spot another honesty box sweet potato stall, selling bags of Bundaberg-grown spuds perfect for roasting, mashing, or turning into fritters.
