NEXT LEVEL Youth Jam - A Low-Pressure Afternoon for Young Musos

If you’ve got a child or teen who’s always tapping a beat on the table, singing in the car, or quietly teaching themselves songs at home, finding a place to play with other young people can make a real difference. It’s not always easy for kids to put themselves out there musically especially if they’re not in a school band or formal lessons. NEXT LEVEL Youth Jam is a chance for young musos to turn up, have a go, and meet others their age who love music too, without it feeling like a performance.
Youth Jam #17 is happening on Thursday 7 May 2026 at the Bundaberg Civic Centre, hosted by NEXT LEVEL Music Programs. The event is aimed at young people aged 9 to 18, with a welcoming “come and join in or just hang out” vibe. Young musicians can bring their own instruments, or use what’s provided on site including drums, amps and a digital piano. It’s designed to be flexible, so kids can jump into a jam, try something new, or simply listen and get comfortable in the space first.
For families, this kind of event is about more than music. It supports confidence, social connection, and the simple joy that comes from doing something you care about with other people. Jamming with others builds listening skills, teamwork, and resilience kids learn quickly that it’s okay to make mistakes and keep going. It can also be a great option for young people who don’t always fit into traditional sport or structured activities, but still want a place to belong.
The listing also mentions affordable food options on the night, with a $2 sausage sizzle and drinks provided by the Bundaberg Central Rotary Club, or families can choose to BYO food.
