Robotics, Drones and Creative Tech - School Holiday Makerspace Workshops

If your child loves building, problem-solving, or anything that involves “how does this work?”, a makerspace workshop can be a great school holiday option. These sessions are hands-on and practical where kids get to experiment, create, and learn by doing, rather than just watching. CQUniversity Bundaberg is running a series of School Holiday Makerspace Workshops for children aged 8 to 16, with activities that blend creativity and tech in a really approachable way.
Workshops are held at the CQUniversity Bundaberg Makerspace, with sessions running during the Easter School Holidays on 8th, 10th and 17 April 2026.
Workshop details are:
- Wednesday 8 April:
LEGO® Robotics: Dragster Dash! at 10am–11:30am
Robot Mania! at 2:30pm–2pm. - Friday 10 April:
Drones (Basics) | Level 1 at 10am–11:30am
LEGO® Robotics: Amusement Park at 12:30pm–2pm. - Friday 17 April:
Drones (Advanced) | Level 2 10am–11:30am (Drones Basics prerequisite)
Light It Up! Creative Circuits 12:30pm–2pm.
Cost is $25–$30 per child per workshop, and spots are limited, so early bookings are recommended.
Makerspace activities build real-world skills in a way that feels fun. Kids practise planning, testing, and improving their ideas whether they’re racing a LEGO dragster, coding a robot challenge, or learning safe drone flying. These sessions also support confidence, because kids get immediate feedback and can see their progress in real time. For many children, it’s a great introduction to STEM and design thinking without the pressure of exams or grades just curiosity, teamwork, and making something that works.
