Welcome to Bundaberg Magazine Issue 3 Is Out Now

The third issue of Welcome to Bundaberg Magazine has officially launched, with a strong focus on food, place and connection across the Bundaberg region.
Published by Wide Bay Kids Community Inc, Welcome to Bundaberg Magazine is a free guide created to support new residents, visitors and local families to better understand the community they live in. Each issue brings together local stories, practical information and place-based insights that help people feel more connected and settled.
Issue 3 explores the theme Place and Plate, looking at how food plays a central role in everyday life in Bundaberg. From farming and food production to markets, community kitchens and shared meals, the magazine highlights how food is often where connection begins. It’s in the routines people build, the conversations they have, and the spaces where people naturally come together.
This edition features stories from across Bundaberg’s food landscape, including local farmers, growers and producers, as well as community organisations using food to support wellbeing and connection. There is also a strong focus on food security, recognising the challenges many families face and the community-led responses helping people access food with dignity and choice.
Readers will find practical content throughout the magazine, including seasonal meal ideas, farm gate and market information, and services that support families who may be doing it tough. These sections are designed to be useful and accessible, whether someone is new to the region or has lived here for years.
At its heart, Issue 3 reflects the idea that feeling connected doesn’t happen all at once. It builds through small, repeated moments. Shopping locally, returning to the same market, learning what grows here, and meeting the people behind the food. These everyday experiences help turn a location into a place that feels like home.
Welcome to Bundaberg Magazine sits alongside Wide Bay Kids’ broader work supporting families, children and communities across the region. By sharing local knowledge and lived experience, the magazine helps strengthen community connection and supports people to find their place.
Issue 3 is available online now, with print copies distributed across the Bundaberg region.
