Every October, the Bundaberg Crush Festival provides families with an opportunity to explore lots of different art forms such as street art, digital art, writing, film, theatre, circus, exhibitions, workshops, ceramics, and more! In 2018 the Crush Festival program continues to grow with innovative ideas, emerging arts and artists.

Bundaberg Regional Library and Community Lifestyle Support (CLS) are teaming up to create a Mini Makerspace after school on Friday 5th October.
An afternoon of creativity and resourcefulness awaits!!! Celebrating the awesome possibilities of STEAM (the exciting combination of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math), the Mini Makerspace will provide children and families with the opportunity to participate in a wide range of hands on creative experiences. It will feature a 3D printing exhibit and virtual reality exhibits, Lego stations and much more.

New to the festival in 2018 is the Ergon Energy Crush Block Party. Join us under the twinkling lights in Post Office Lane for an evening of creative arts experiences. The evening will be alive with the buzz of street theatre, play readings, trivia, music, dance, street art demonstrations and activities for all ages. The much-loved Wheelbarrow Markets are back with more stalls than ever before. Treat yourself to something unique from one of our local artisans or put a few things away for Christmas for those ‘impossible to buy for’. Visit our ‘back-door food court’ for some delectable delights!

Crush Makerspace will be a larger scale, fun and interactive showcase of STEAM (the exciting combination of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math). Bundaberg Regional Libraries, Community Lifestyle Support, Queensland Computers, CQUniversity, Shalom College and St Lukes Anglican School will be hosting a range of workshops and activities that will inspire any budding innovator - young or not so young! Come together to learn to use materials and technology for creative projects. Exploration, learning, innovation and collaboration is key! Try your hand at 3D printing, robotics, virtual reality experiences, drones, slime making and so much more.

Gallery Park is going dotty during the Crush Block Party, as the Gallery’s Dottie Lottie does Pop Up Art Play with our littlest art lovers. It will be musical madness, as Dottie Lottie gives up her story chair for some wild and wacky homemade instruments set to make the park sing! Make a pair of Dottie’s signature art goggles, helping you to find a hidden world of tiny art in the Gallery precinct.

I Carried a Pineapple

We Want You! ‘I Carried A Pineapple’ is an ambitious community project that will be filmed, edited and entered into a film festival competition all in one day!
The set will be the Botanic Gardens, North Bundaberg. The gardens will be filled with activity and we are looking for AT LEAST 500 EXTRAS to make this happen. Rally a group and bring the kids to be part of this film.
The only requirement is a smile and BYO pineapple to the park! No dance skills required!
The moves are simple and there’s a happy ending complete with a dance celebration.
Please register on the day so ‘spots’ can be allocated. Registration Marquee: Below Fairymead House. Registration Times: Strictly 8am-9am. This is a community film project. ‘Extras’ acknowledge their time is volunteered.

Gather your family and friends, harness your creativity and collect your buckets and spades. Join us at Elliott Heads Beach for an afternoon of making sculptures in the sand. From dinosaurs to sea creatures, from submarines to mermaids, let your imagination run wild!
Prizes to be won, including McDonalds vouchers! To keep the vibe chilled we will be enjoying the beat with The Unity Drummers and Ramona Lane will be creating a Labyrinth walk for you to participate in. The Elliott Heads Surf Lifesaving Club are hosting a sausage sizzle and drinks stall. The first 100 sausages will be FREE!
