Agnes Water Paperbark Forest Walk
Agnes Water Paperbark Forest walk
What an awesome experience the Agnes Water Paperbark Forest Walk was. This place was amazing to see and an absolute must do when you visit the area.
Paperbark Forest
The forest is situated on Reedy Creek and includes 120 ha of paperbark tea tree wetlands. We visited just after rain and it was picture perfect.
The walk consists of a 400m circuit which runs through the forest and includes dirt tracks concrete bollard steps, and a series of timber boardwalks so can enjoy the wetlands without getting your feet wet!
The crickets are pretty loud as you enter and begin your walk surrounded by lush ferns, a mixture of paperbark trees and cabbage palms. Before you know it you reach the first of the concrete bollard steps.
These are pretty easy to navigate but younger kids will definitely find the task difficult. Because the water was up quite high I took it pretty slow and placed both feet on each bollard before moving onto the next, while the kids pretty much ran across them!
The Ferns
The forest is home to climbing maiden hair ferns which can grow to about 30 metres!
The Boardwalks
The boardwalks are scattered throughout the circuit when needed and consist of a series of boards - sometimes literally just boards on the ground and at other times a constructed boardwalk.
The Verdict
We absolutely loved this walk, a couple of our WBK's did the circuit 3 times! The scenery was nothing like I have ever seen it was stunning. The only downfall is the circuit length, we would have loved it to have been longer, it was over so quickly. The mozzies were a bit fierce the day we went so make sure you pack the mozzie cream.
The Facilities
What's There
The track includes a 400m walking track, of various surfaces, concrete bollards, timber boardwalks, dirt tracks. There is a picnic table at the entrance to the walk.
