Great fun for kids!
The Bundaberg Croquet Club is a great place for family fun. We took our tribe of Wide Bay Kids, plus a few extras to the Club last Sunday afternoon and had an absolute ball. Our kids range in age from 3 to 11 years and each and every one of them had the most fantastic time. Every child has asked if we can go back again!
How our afternoon went
We arrived were greeted by some friendly club volunteers who quickly got us sorted with mallets and a 5 minute how-to session. We then divided into groups of fours and assigned a green. Another 5 minutes of how-to on the green and we were all off and playing. Everyone picked it up really quickly. Our youngest who is almost 4 didn’t really get the rules but nonetheless he still enjoyed waiting for his turn to hit the ball again.
I think I’d describe croquet as a mixture of pool and chess……it’s a very strategic game and something that our Minecraft mad Wide Bay Kids took to straight away. The lovely volunteers who escorted us were super helpful and the kids enjoyed the interaction with them. The only downside to the afternoon was that our Wide Bay Kids Grandparents were not able to make it. This would have made a great afternoon even better.
How to book your family in
The Bundaberg Croquet Club is located at 29 Quay Street, Alexandra Park. The Club regularly hold FREE come and try sessions throughout the year. To book your family in for a private come and try session you can contact the club via their Facebook Page, email or by telephoning (07) 4152 8472…….Green fees of $3 for kids and $6 for adults apply for private come and try sessions.

The Croquet Club will hold their nexe FREE open day on the 20th March from 2pm to 5pm. All equipment is provided! Wear a hat, sunscreen and flat soled shoes or play barefoot.
