Hairy Maclary leaves Donaldson’s Dairy for a trip to Bundaberg

We love the Hairy Maclary series of children’s books.  It’s one we’ve read over and over again! The exhibition features original artworks including the very first drawing of Hairy Maclary.

He is the black scruffy dog usually found at Donaldson’s Dairy but soon, Hairy Maclary and author/illustrator Lynley Dodd will visit Bundaberg for a special exhibition showcase.

To be held at the Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery The Lynley Dodd Story will feature a celebration of characters including Hairy Maclary, Slinky Malinki and nine other friends from 20 April to 23 June 2019.

Three events will be held in May to celebrate the exhibition.

Event 1: An Evening with Lynley Dodd
Date and time: Friday, 10 May 2019 from 5:30pm
Venue: Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery, 1 Barolin Street, Bundaberg
Details: This event will include a meet and greet, wine and treats. This is a free event and for people 16 years and over. To make a booking to this event, phone 4130 4750.

Event 2: Storytime Festival with Lynley Dodd
Date and time: Saturday, 11 May 2019 10am – 1pm
Venue: BRAG Park, 1 Barolin Street, Bundaberg
Details: Create art and hear a reading of Hairy Maclary! Dress as your favourite Lynley Dodd book character. Book signing with the author from 12pm-1pm. It’s free to attend and there is no need to book, just come along and join in on the fun!

Event 3: Writers’ Masterclass by Lynley Dodd and editor Penelope Jackson
Date and time: Sunday, 12 May 2019 2 pm – 5pm
Venue: Bundaberg Regional Art Gallery, 1 Barolin Street, Bundaberg
Details:  Local writers have such a great opportunity to meet, share and learn. This event is now booked out.
