Hervey Bay Beaches

Our Hervey Bay beaches are an awesome source for family fun! Not only picturesque swimming locations but also great spots to play family beach games......from Fraser Island, Urangan, Torquay, Scarness, Pialba and Point Vernaon, to Burrum Heads, Toogoom and Dundowran there are so many to choose from.

Beaches

Our favourites stretch along the Hervey Bay Esplanade from Pialba to Urangan, where at low tide the water disappears back out into the ocean revealing a huge white sandy playground.

A path runs along the Esplanade from Point Vernon all the way to the Marina at Urangan stretching some 16km for you to walk, ride, scoot or skate. Scattered along this area you will find many parks, playgrounds and picnic spots.

Why not grab your lunch and take the time to visit one of these great beaches, they each have something different to offer not only in the warmer months but also in the cooler months.

In summer for us it's all about keeping cool, we like to swim, explore shady spots and play beach games in the late afternoon.

In the cooler months we can't get enough of the sun, we like to play in the sand, fly our kite and hit some of the great paths with our bikes, scooters, or skates.

Hervey Bay Piers

There are 3 piers we love to visit at Scarness, Torquay and Urangan Pier. Each are accessible via the esplanade with their own picture perfect parks located that their entrance. The Urangan Pier stretches almost 1km out into the ocean.

Beach Games

We love going to the beach prepared for games beyond swimming and building sandcastles. We find this the perfect recipe for the whole family to enjoy a great day out! Take a look at our ideas:

• dig a channel, make a dam or dig a hole
• make a sand sculpture
• search for driftwood, shells, seaweed or crabs
• look for shells with holes to make a necklace
• build a boat or car in the sand big enough to sit in, great for pretend play
• draw pictures in the sand
• build a "Sand" Man
• make footprints
• play beach golf, volleyball, cricket, bowls or soccer
• throw a frisbee
• kick or throw a ball
• fly a kite
• play hide and seek or tiggy
• take a walk
• ride bikes, scooters or skate along the beach paths
