Mon Repos Guided Walks

School Holidays Guided Walks Program
The Rangers at Mon Repos Turtle Centre welcome you to come and enjoy the conservation park and everything it has to offer! View the program for the April 2022 school holidays below and join us to learn more about the flora and fauna that call our park home. To ensure you have the best experience, numbers are limited, and bookings are essential. COST: Free (Children must be accompanied by an adult) |
Guided Walks Description
Birds & Beasties: Meet at Mon Repos Turtle Centre and head north along the conservation park trails. Watch and listen closely to spot some of the vast array of birds and other beasties that call Mon Repos home. You will learn about different species, their habitat and how they interact with other wildlife in the park. We will also talk about how we care for the park and what we are doing to help conserve this special ecosystem. If you have a pair of binoculars, please bring them along. Coastal Systems: Meet in the car park at the end of Mon Repos Road (past the turn-off to the conservation park entrance). You will journey along the board walk, the sandy beach and other park trails—experiencing the wonders of a multitude of coastal ecosystems including mangroves, salt marsh and dunes. Learn about the unique adaptations of flora and fauna living in these environments and why each of these coastal systems are so important. Discover Mon Repos: Meet at the Mon Repos Turtle Centre. You will journey south along the trails and back via the beach. Along the way you will learn about the unique flora and fauna of the Mon Repos Conservation Park. We will also share some of our history with you such as how the Mon Repos name came about, the marvels of Bert Hinkler and the turtle conservation efforts led by Dr. Col Limpus. |
WHAT TO BRING
Make sure you are sun safe by wearing sunscreen, hat and sunglasses. Bring your reusable water bottle (you can fill it up in the Turtle Centre) and some mosquito repellent. It is recommended you wear comfortable walking shoes. You may wish to bring some reef shoes or shoes you wouldn’t mind getting wet if you are coming along on our coastal systems walk. Binoculars and cameras would also be a great idea, particularly for our bird watching walks. Please check the weather forecast and bring along a rain jacket if rain is predicted.
We will continue if rain is forecast, however the tour may be cancelled at short notice if storms, lightning, strong winds or other hazardous conditions are forecast. You will be contacted by phone or email if this is the case.
