Nyan Cat Minecraft Costume

Nyan Cat Minecraft Costume
I’ve been very busy this afternoon with my two Wide Bay Kids getting our Book Week costumes ready. One asked for a Minecraft Nyan Cat Costume!?!? What the?……….so after finding a picture on the internet I set to work to recreate it. Firstly I had to work out how I was going to get the pixillated blocks onto the cardboard…….anyway after playing around a bit I successfully made a template in word. If you’d like to make your own template in a different colour I will pop a link here soon explaining how to do this.
Here’s what I did to make our Nyan Cat Minecraft Costume:
What you need:
Printable – Download Printable HERE
Boxes – 1 for body, head, shoulders and legs
glue
sticky tape or clear packing tape
paper
ruler
sissors
stanley knife
colour printer
old stocking
elastic
What to do:
- Select your boxes for the head, body, shoulders and legs. The one I used for the body could have been a little narrower but my Wide Bay Kid is happy with it so that’s all that matters. Cut the shoulders and the hole for the head in the body box.
- Print out the printable. I printed out about 35 A4 sheets of the checks and 2 A4 sheets of the black. You will need to trim the boarders.
- Start gluing the printable pages to the boxes. I used clear packing tape on the corners and to secure the shoulders.
- Now start cutting the holes for the eyes.
- Use the black paper from the printable for the mouth, eyebrows and to define the legs.
- For the tail use one leg of a stocking, fill it with screwed up paper. Cover the stocking with more of the printable, I used packing tape to secure it to the back of the body.
- Use the elastic to hold up the leg box. Attach it to the top of the box, crossing the body over the shoulder and returning to the back of the box, tie in place. (no picture of this sorry).
…………..and that’s it you’re done, you’ve just made a Nyan Cat Minecraft Costume! In the picture below I don’t have the elastic attached so the legs are sitting on the ground but you get the idea.
