Pipe Cleaner Button Rings

Pipe Cleaner Button Rings
We love fancy dress at Wide Bay Kids Playgroup. Our dress up box is full of crazy wigs, funny hats, and other costumes. With all the Halloween excitement around, I thought a dress-up day was in order.
We have enough costumes but do need a little more bling………….after all no outfit is complete without accessories! For craft time I plan to have the children learn how to make rings out of pipe cleaners, buttons and beads. This activity is so fun and the rings look gorgeous!
Do your kids love to dress up? Do they love making jewellery? Then your family is going to love making these rings. I must say, you may run out of fingers because you won’t want to stop making them.
How to make Pipe Cleaner Button Rings
What you need:
- pipe cleaners
- scissors
- a variety of buttons and beads
What to do:
- Cut your pipe cleaners 10 – 15cm
- Thread your button or bead onto the pipe cleaner pushing it to the
middle
- Keeping the button jewel in the centre, make a loop with the pipe cleaner to resemble a ring
- Twist the ends together
- Trim any excess with your scissors
And there you have it – gorgeous rings made in minutes! This is such a fabulous fine motor activity for the littlies and give them the opportunity to be more creative than threading activities.
Here are some rings my daughter made at home. You could also use the this technique to make bracelets or a necklace. I’d love to hear what you think, let me know in the comments below.
