Play & Creative Therapy Bundaberg is a growing child counselling and family therapy practice, servicing children, young people, and their families.

Practice Director, Kara-Lee James, is a neurodivergent individual with children and family members who are also ND. Through her own journey as a parent navigating the therapy space, she recognised the vital need for a lived experience perspective in offering neurodiversity-affirming and neuro-sensitive care.

As qualified practitioners, Play & Creative Therapy understand the challenges and complexities that neurodivergent individuals face through both a lived-experience and professional lens.

With compassionate ND Counsellors & Play Therapists who are dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of others, Play & Creative Therapy provide a safe and nurturing space where participants can express their whole, authentic being in ways that embraces their individual and unique strengths, interests, needs, goals and wholeheartedly embrace individual neurological characteristics for the beautiful variations of human cognition and capabilities that they are.

Using a person-centered and holistic approach, therapists are informed by relational neuroscience, attachment theory, and values of safety, connection, attunement, and play, where children, young people, and their families are supported by evidence-based approaches that provide clients with therapeutic care that is playful, expressive, and supports children and their families to live together in a connected, nurturing, authentic, and enriching way.
