Review of Dinosaur Exhibition Maryborough
Explore-a-Saurus
“On the weekend my Mum and Dad took me to meet the Dinosaurs at the Explore-a-saurus Exhibition. It was totally amazing! When we walked up the stairs of City Hall I just knew what was about to happen, was going to be awesome”. – Kolby Reynolds 6.
This exciting exhibition is a must for families with children of all ages and anyone with a sense of wonder and imagination. We made the trip from Bundaberg to Maryborough to visit this exhibition and felt it was totally worth it. It was great to step into the shoes of a Palaeontologist, and be up close and personal with six incredible animatronic dinosaurs.
If your Wide Bay Kids have a sensitivity to noise (like ours), you may want to prepare them before you go. Six animatronic dinosaurs can be very loud. We suggest you take a pair of head phones that can be slowly removed during your visit.
There are interactive stations for everyone once inside. First we got to uncover fossils and bones at a dig site. That was very cool, I even had a turn.
My son’s favourite was to test his strength against a T-Rex jaw.
We got to learn about how dinosaurs lived – from how fast they ran to how they digested their food.
But by far the most exciting thing was meeting the stars of the show, some of the world’s most famous dinosaurs, the Uttaburrasaurus, one of the most complete dinosaur skeleton specimens ever found in Australia, and of course the carnivorous Tyrannosaurus Rex, King of the Cretaceous Period.
The exhibition runs until 19th April, and is held at the City Hall, Kent Street, Maryborough. Get yourself there if you can, it is a great experience for the whole family. You can find out more information regarding ticket prices and opening hours in our Event Calendar.
Here is the score my son gave the experience.
