SAHM to take long service leave

The lady in this photo is our lovely Playgroup Co-ordinator Jillina.  Tonight she declared that she was taking long service leave after completing 10 years as a stay at home mum!  She even made and awarded herself her own certificate as well as taking the photo!

Next year the youngest of Jillina’s kids is off to school and while its been a wonderful journey she is now super excited about all the new possibilities and ideas she has in store for herself.

This photo got me thinking about just how awesome us Mummies and of course Daddies are. This parenting job is full-on not too mention full time.  I still marvel at the new stages and challenges that are constantly thrust upon us.  This whole journey is an evolving mishmash of everyone’s different needs, wants and desires. In fact I’m just tired thinking about it all!

If you’d told me before having children that when I’m ready for mummy long service leave it will involve: making my own certificate, awarding it to myself as well as taking the photo and shaking my own hand………..and then actually not getting the long service leave, I’d have been outraged!  Now I just think it is so darn funny and just par for the course!

I think I may have just gotten a bit more out of this parenting gig than I ever could have imagined, but don’t we all.  We are the lucky ones!
