There are plenty of different roles available, so whether you prefer to be out on the course cheering on runners or working behind the scenes to ensure everything runs smoothly, there's a role that's perfect for you.

What specific volunteer roles are available?
- Race office support
- Bib and race pack distribution
- Putting up/taking down signs/crowd control barriers
- Water stations
- Finish area (distribution of fruit/water etc)
- Site management
- Assistance with parking management
- Traffic guidance (Event Traffic Marshals)
- Setup/Clean-up/Sanitation
- Assistance with catering/food preparation
- Event ambassadors
- Lost/found and gear collection tent
- Directional attendants
- Information booth
- other general roles/tasks
What days and times are volunteers required?
- Times and dates for our volunteer roles will vary. Cane2Coral usually require assistance in the lead up to the event (possibly several weeks/days prior). Most volunteers are required on the event day – Sunday the 23rd of July.
- Some roles require early starts; some could be as early as 4am. The event is expected to finish around 11.30am with clean up and pack up to follow.
What skills are needed to volunteer?
- Cane2Coral welcome volunteers of all skill levels. Whilst experience is preferred, you do not need any experience as there will be team leaders to support you on the day as well as full training and induction prior to the event.
- If volunteers have prior experience or other skills/certificates/qualifications (IE First Aid Certificate) that they feel may be relevant/beneficial to a role, these can be included upon application.
- Certain positions may require the acquisition of and ETM (Event Traffic Marshall) certificate – this is a free online course.
What age are volunteers?
- Volunteers can be aged from 12 years (on event day) and upwards. Volunteers under 18 must have parental consent and be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times. Volunteers U/18 may not be able to be placed into certain roles for safety reasons.
What is in it for me? - Do I receive anything for volunteering?
- All volunteers will receive snacks, meal & drink ticket, a goodie bag, and will be presented with an appreciation certificate at our volunteers evening. You will also receive the satisfaction of assisting this iconic event to return to our region and providing the participants and the public an awesome and most memorable experience!
- Volunteering also provides many new experiences and skills that are transferrable to both to an individual’s personal and professional life. It’s an opportunity to meet other likeminded people, make personal/business connections, expand their social horizons/skills and to give back to their community.
- Groups/clubs/organisations who can supply larger numbers of volunteers/services may qualify for a monetary donation towards their selected not-for-profit charity, school, or not-for-profit sports club. Please contact our committee regarding groups/clubs/organisations to discuss this.
