Welcome to Bundaberg: Helping Professionals Settle and Stay

Welcome to Bundaberg: Helping Professionals Settle and Stay
The Welcome to Bundaberg Community Connector Program is a collaborative initiative designed to address workforce retention challenges in the region. Led by Wide Bay Kids, in partnership with Country to Coast Queensland Primary Health Network (CCQ PHN), Welcome to Bundaberg, and Attract Connect Stay, the program supports allied health professionals and their families as they settle into Bundaberg.
The program offered tailored support, including assistance with housing, childcare, and education. It also connects families to local activities and community groups, fostering a sense of belonging. To enhance its effectiveness, a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system was introduced to track engagement and measure outcomes.
During the 2024 pilot phase, the program successfully supported new hires, filling critical gaps in allied health services. The initiative also strengthened relationships between local businesses, healthcare providers, and community groups, creating a welcoming culture in Bundaberg.
Feedback from participants highlighted the program’s positive impact on their transition experience. Many noted that the support provided helped them feel more at home, making their relocation smoother and more enjoyable.
The success of the pilot phase has paved the way for expanding the program to include other professions and services. By addressing the needs of individuals and their families, the Welcome to Bundaberg Community Connector Program ensures the region remains an attractive place to live and work.
This initiative exemplifies the power of collaboration and community-focused support in tackling workforce challenges. By prioritising the well-being of new hires and their families, the program contributes to a thriving and resilient Bundaberg community.
