Kingaroy Speedway
Kingaroy Speedway offers thrilling racing events from October to April , including the iconic Kings Royal. This decade old tradition attracts speedway enthusiasts nationwide, making it a must-see event. Featuring various races, including Sedans Kings Royal, Queens Royal, Production Sedans, Street Stocks, Junior Sedans, and Modlites, it's a fast-paced family-friendly weekend. South Burnett Horse Racing
The South Burnett Region hosts various country horse racing events, including quarterly races in Nanango, an annual picnic race in Burrandowan, a 'Melbourne Cup' event in Kumbia, and two meets a year in Wondai thanks to the South Burnett Race Club. The Burrandowan Picnic Races, known for their campfire steak dinners, will celebrated their 101st year in 2023. Started in 1922, this iconic event has evolved over the years, featuring horse racing and a clay pigeon shoot introduced in 1956. It remains a social gathering with post-race dances held in the old hall and under the stars.
Wondai Country Running Festival
The Wondai Country Running Festival is a family-friendly weekend in June, blending country charm and healthy activities. It features a day of country fun with markets, music, and kids' entertainment, alongside running events for all levels. Choose from the Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km Rail Trail, 11.1km McEuen Forest Trail, 21.2km McEuen Forest Trail, All Abilities race or the Family Fun Run.
Dead Cow Gully
Dead Cow Gully is a challenging ultra-marathon near Nanango on a sixth-generation cattle property. Runners tackle a 6.7-kilometer loop every hour until only one remains. Not for the faint of heart, the backyard marathon is a test of mental and physical strength and endurance.
