Woodgate Banksia Walking Track
Woodgate Banksia Walking Track
Burrum Coast National Park
The Woodgate Banksia walking track is a great nature walk to explore with kids. It’s set within the Woodgate section of the Burrum Coast National Park and includes both a boardwalk wetland area and a bush walking track. Perfect for the Family!
The Boardwalk
A 200m paved surface leads from the entrance of the park to the boardwalk. The boardwalk is 400m in distance making a round trip from the park entrance and back about 1.4 km. The full circuit of the track is 5.2km and takes roughly 2 hours to complete.
The boardwalk is wide enough to fit a double sized pram and is wheelchair accessible. There is a picnic table at the entrance to the boardwalk, a perfect spot for little kids to take a rest on the way back.
The Walking Track
The walking track varied from hard pressed dirt and grass, to quite soft sandy soil but in general was very well maintained and flat. Prams with pump-up tyres and bikes would both cope well on this track.
Parts of the walking track circuit can become inaccessible after lots of rain.
The Verdict
If you have younger kids the wetland part of this walk is a perfect distance for them.
Older kids will easily handle the full 5.2km flat circuit.
Woodgate Banksia Walking Track is a great place to occupy the kids for free and get them out into nature.
