Advent Calendar Treats – How to make your own
Advent Calendar Treats
Allergy-friendly Homemade Advent Calendar Treats
Homemade Advent Calendar Treats - One of our Wide Bay Kids Mums has to deal with lots of allergies and intolerances in her house so making their own treats comes with the territory. Last week, Joanne, made some marshmallow Christmas tree and chocolate treats to use in an Advent Calendar. Joanne usually makes her own chocolate and marshmallows but since the kids have been doing okay with some packaged ones she has used them in this recipe.
What you need:
Baking paper
Melted chocolate
Mini marshmallows and other mini things you could use to decorate.
What you do:
Cut the baking paper up into strips about 10 cm wide
Add some of the melted chocolate onto the baking paper, this is going to be your glue
Place the mini marshmallows into the shape of a Christmas tree
If you tolerate other small lollies you could use these to decorate the tree, again using the melted chocolate to glue them on
Place the trees in the fridge or freezer to set
Cut the baking paper with pinking shears to give a nicer finish and keep them stored in the freezer.
Joanne put notes in the advent calendars stating the treat and where to go to retrieve it, sometimes she includes a riddle too. Joannes Wide Bay Kids can both read but when tey could not she used to use pictures much like those used here.
Joanne also used lolly pops, xmas shaped chocolates, the chocolate trees, bubbles, stickers, tree ornaments etc.
