Alexandra Park Zoo and Playground Bundaberg

Alexandra Park Zoo and Playground Bundaberg
Alexandra Park Zoo and Playground is one of our favourite local parks to visit. This park is somewhere i visited with my family as a child! I still have fond memories of the "Monkey Park".
It is a beautifully shaded park with lots of trees and space to run! My kids love the zoo animals and the variety of playground equipment.
There are four areas to the park, the zoo, the playground, the rotundas and open space park.
Location: Quay Street, Bundaberg West
Attractions: Zoo, Playground, Rotundas, Open Space Parks

Climbing frame and swings provide a great challenge for older children.

Double slide and net bridge!

Great playground for Under 5's. Dinosaur bones are buried in the sand!
The Zoo

The Zoo is small and is home to emus, dingos, wallabies, reptiles, cotton-top tamarin monkeys, and birds. All are housed in purpose built enclosures. Give yourself a good 20 minutes to get around to all the animals.
The zoo animals make for an interesting day out at the park and great way for kids to learn about animals. If you’d like to make the most your visit to the Zoo download our Zoo Passport for completion while you are there.
The Open Space Park Areas and BBQ Shelters
There is one large open spaced area adjoining to the Playground perfect for a run aground, a game of cricket, soccer or tiggy.
It has excellent areas for games, as well as massive grassed areas with plenty of shade. Take your football and have a kick or the cricket set for a hit. This area connects to the Burnett River Boardwalk, where you can enjoy a stroll along the Burnett River Foreshore.
There are several shelter areas with BBQs that adjoins the park and playground. There are tables and bench seats too.
In the early morning and late afternoon mosquitos can be found at the Park so best take some repellent just in case.

Colonial Guns
Colonial guns are a feature within the Alexandra Park area. These relics from the 1800's once stood as silent sentinels, barels facing the north across the Burnett River at the Alexandra Park location for decades. They are now an facinating and educational feature of the Park.

The Facilities
What's there
Toilets, tables, shaded structures, bbq’s, water bubblers, bike/scooter path, free parking
What's missing
The playground is not fenced and adjoins a rocky entrance to the Burnett River. Not much seating around the play area bring a rug or chairs to sit on. No cafe however the CBD is a short walk with plenty of coffee and snack options!
