Bert Hinkler's Birthday at the Hinkler Hall of Aviation
Bundaberg has plenty to be proud of, and one of its best-known stories is that of aviator Bert Hinkler. This December, the Hinkler Hall of Aviation is marking his birthday with a day of celebration, and there's cake for visitors who come along.
Bert Hinkler's Birthday is on Tuesday 8 December 2026 from 9am to 3pm at the Hinkler Hall of Aviation, 6 Mount Perry Road, Bundaberg North. The Hall is celebrating the birthday of Bundaberg's most famous aviator and recognising his achievements. All paid admissions receive a complimentary piece of cake to help mark the occasion. Normal admission fees apply, so families can come along at any time during the day and make a visit of it. Anyone with questions can contact the Hinkler Hall of Aviation directly.
A visit to the Hall is a good way for kids to learn about local history in a hands-on setting, and a birthday celebration adds a bit of occasion to it. Bert Hinkler's story is one of curiosity, determination and plenty of hard work, which can spark conversation about what it takes to chase a big idea. For families, it's an easy outing that mixes learning with something a little different, and the cake is a small treat to finish the visit. It's also a chance to connect with the region's aviation heritage and see how a local boy's achievements are still remembered today. Whether you've visited before or it's your first time, the birthday is a good excuse to go along.
