Bundaberg Chinese New Year Celebrations
Bundaberg Regional Council always puts on a great show for their annual event the Bundaberg Chinese New Year Celebrations. This year the main event will be held on Saturday the 11th February in the City Centre.
Food and market stalls will line Bourbong Street between Maryborough and Barolin Streets. Activities that all the family can enjoy will be found in Buss Park.
A range of free kids’ activities will be on offer including jianzi Chinese featherball workshops and an interactive Chinese animal zodiac trail……..
Moncrieff Entertainment Centre will host CQUniversity Chinese Cultural Concerts throughout the evening in 45 minute sessions commencing at 4pm, 5pm, 6pm and 7pm.
After dark there will be a lantern parade and unique fireworks display. Giant lanterns will illuminate the night during the parade before the grand finale fireworks display. With firing points from Buss Park and the main street, you can guarantee it will be a very different and unique fireworks experience. This looks like it is going to be super fun a must attend family event.
Chinese New Year Kids Workshops and Activities

- Jiznzi Chinese featherball workshops
- Pick up bananas with chopsticks
- Make a clucking rooster cup
- Make paper Rooster stencil cut outs
- Make paper Rooster plates
- Rooster colouring in and collages
- Open a fortune cookie and write your own fortune
- Crow like a Rooster
- Perform a Taekwon Do move
