Bundaberg Regional Sports Award Presentation Dinner

Bundaberg Regional Sports Award Presentation Dinner
with Queenslander Billy Moore as guest speaker
The cream of Bundaberg Region’s sporting ranks will be gathering at the Brothers Sports Club this Friday night for the annual Bundaberg Region Sports Award Presentation Dinner. The awards are in their second year and provide the opportunity to showcase local sport while recognizing those who achieve either as athletes, officials or volunteers.
Bundaberg Regional Council Sport and Recreation portfolio spokesperson Cr Lynne Forgan said the awards provided a great avenue to acknowledge locals who brought recognition to themselves and their sport through consistently high performances.
What is really special about these awards is the fact that they also offer recognition to those people behind the scenes who serve as club officials or volunteers. We all know that sport simply could not operate without a solid base of people to administer and physically involve themselves in all aspects that benefit competitors and clubs.
The awards are the initiative of the Bundaberg Regional Sport and Recreation Advisory Group and Bundaberg Regional Council with awards to be presented in eight categories. Cr Forgan said guest speaker this year is famed State of Origin player Billy Moore who introduced the “Queenslander” chant into rugby league folk lore.
Billy is a passionate and inspiring speaker and I am certain he will be a highlight of the Awards Dinner and stir the emotions of sports lover with his remarks.
