The township of Burnett Heads is located just 20 minutes from Bundaberg and hosts the local Port and Marina. Burnett Heads rests where the ocean meets the Burnett River.

Beach
There are two main beach areas at Burnett Heads, Oakes Beach and South Head. These beaches are very close with only a of 1/2 km separating them. Oakes Beach is patrolled by life savers But south heads is not. Both areas can be choppy and if weather conditions are like this you need to be careful of rips. Both the Oaks and South Head are great at low tide for games and sand play.
Playground and Paths
The main playground at Burnett Heads is situated along Sea Esplanade in a large grassy area overlooking the ocean. There are several different types of playground equipment scattered throughout this large park which is perfect for games such as cricket, rubgy, and soccer.
You will also find the local skate bowl and shaded picnic areas including bbq’s. Fabulous paths wrap around Sea Esplanade perfect for prams, bikes, scooters and skates. A great walking track leads all the way to Mon Repos the next beach south of Burnett Heads.
Marina and Port
The Marina is a picturesque location. The complex includes a great restaurant, gift shop and tour booking service to Lady Musgrave Island. You can buy fresh local seafood direct from trawlers at Ocean Pacific Seafoods. The Port is located just around the corner and upstream from the Marina. It handles bulk sugar exports and it worth a drive past to see how large the sugar sheds are. Also make sure to visit Monsoon Aquatics Coral Farm Tours.
Accommodation
The Burnett Heads Lighthouse Holiday Park is located on the harbour. The Park caters for camping, caravans and has cabins.
