What You’ll Learn:
In this workshop, participants will explore the art of character design using traditional mediums. Learn the basics of manga art, including how to create a visual embodiment of your protagonist. This session will focus on character creation, dynamic line work, and colouring techniques, opening up new ways to enhance your stories through visual art.
Workshop #2: Storyboarding & Visual Storytelling -

What You’ll Learn:
Building on the skills from the first workshop, this session will guide participants through storyboarding their characters into comic-style illustrations. Learn the essentials of manga layout, storyboarding, and how to combine text with illustrations to create impactful stories. This workshop will also cover adding interactions, backgrounds, and speech bubbles to bring your narratives to life.

Meet the Creative:
Bec McPherson is an experienced manga artist specialising in illustration and storytelling. As the facilitator of the Beyond Boundaries project’s manga workshops, Bec brings her expertise in character design and visual storytelling to help participants unlock their artistic potential.
In these two engaging workshops, Bec will guide you through the process of bringing your characters to life on the page. The first workshop focuses on building and designing your characters, while the second workshop teaches you how to storyboard them into fully realised comic-style illustrations.
