Easter Egg Decorating
Colouring eggs is such a fun art activity! There is no better time of year to try it than Easter! We’ve found 3 different ways of decorating good old fashioned hard boiled eggs. Have a go at these great Easter egg decorating activities using crayons, tie dye or marbleised methods. Our Wide Bay Kids had fun decorating easter eggs, we thought you might like it too. This is a simple Easter School Holiday activity that doesn’t require much preparation. You can share your home made easter eggs with us, we would love to see what you create – use the hashtag #widebaykidseaster and we will share your creations.
Melted Crayon Easter Eggs
What you will need:
- HOT Hardboiled Eggs
- Crayons
- Egg carton
What you will need to do:
- Hard boil the eggs.
- While they are still hot use crayons to draw/decorate on them.
- Place the eggs in the egg carton so little hands can work easily with them.
- You will need provide support whenever the egg has to be lifted or moved.
- The crayon glides on smoothly, melting onto the hot egg producing some awesome looking results.
Tie Dye Easter Eggs
What you need:
- Eggs
- Food colouring
- Paper towels
- Spray bottle
- Vinegar
- Water
- Plastic bags
- Rubber bands
- Tray
What you need to do:
- Start by putting 3 napkins on a tray or other work surface.
- Add dots of food colour as desired.
- Fill your spray bottle with water and add a few tsp of vinegar.
- Spray the napkin till it’s wet and colours have bleded together.
- Put hardboiled egg in middle of napkin and wrap it so that the napkin touches each part of egg and excess is on top.
- Put wrapped egg in plastic bag and tie with rubber band.
- Let sit for a few hours – the longer they marinate the brighter the colours!
Marbleised Easter Eggs
What you need:
- Oil
- Food colouring and a container for each colour
- Hardboiled eggs
What you need to do:
- Add 2 tsp of oil into each bowl that contains food colouring.
- Dip your egg into 1 colour and remove.
- Gently wipe off the excess oil and dip into another colour!
- Dip into as many colours as you like for a cool marbled effect.
