FAB Network: Securing the Future for Bundaberg Families
The FAB Network—Planning for Our Future Project was launched to ensure the long-term sustainability of the Bundaberg Family and Baby Network. Under the leadership of Wide Bay Kids Community Inc., the project focused on strategic planning, collaboration, and framework development to support families for years to come.
Five strategic planning sessions were held with 86 participants, bringing together a diverse range of stakeholders. These sessions resulted in a comprehensive five-year plan, addressing priorities such as early childhood education, mental health support, and family-friendly policies. The collaborative approach ensured that the plan reflects the needs and aspirations of the community it serves.
In addition to strategic planning, Wide Bay Kids facilitated two sustainability sessions. These workshops produced a detailed sustainability plan, outlining strategies for diversifying funding, building long-term partnerships, and maintaining member engagement. Monthly FAB Network meetings continued during this period, providing a platform for ongoing collaboration and idea-sharing among members.
A key achievement of the project was the increased participation of First Nations groups, education providers, and community organisations. This inclusivity ensured the network’s initiatives are representative and community-driven. Additionally, transitioning the network’s facilitation from the Family Relationship Centre to Wide Bay Kids secured its future leadership, creating a robust foundation for continued growth.
With a solid five-year plan and a sustainability strategy in place, the FAB Network is well-equipped to support Bundaberg families. The project underscores the importance of planning, inclusivity, and collaboration in achieving long-term success.
