Hervey Bay Whale Festival 2026

Hervey Bay Whale Festival 2026 is bringing a full day of family entertainment, creativity and coastal celebration to Hervey Bay on Saturday 29 August 2026. The event is part of the Hervey Bay Whale Festival and celebrates the region’s connection to the sea and the whales that visit its waters. The day features three events in one, giving families plenty to see and do across City Park, Main Street and Seafront Oval. The festivities begin with City Park Festivities, featuring interactive marine displays and animals at the petting zoo, along with the chance to meet a real-life mermaid and get creative at a lantern-making workshop.
The Parade of Lights will then take place from 6pm along Main Street, with this year’s theme being Magical Migration. Everyone is encouraged to dress up in their brightest ocean-inspired outfit and take part in the walking parade from City Park to Seafront Oval. The celebrations continue at Seafront Oval with carnival rides, live entertainment, market stalls and food. The evening will finish with a spectacular fireworks display at 6:45pm.
The event is a great opportunity for families and visitors to enjoy a festive day by the coast while celebrating Hervey Bay’s whale season and the community’s connection to the ocean. Entry is free, making it an accessible option for families looking for activities during the weekend.
