LIFT THE LID WALK for Mental Health – Coral Coast Bargara 2026 is returning to Bargara for its fourth annual community walk, bringing people together to walk, talk and raise vital funds for mental health research through Australian Rotary Health. The event will be held on Sunday 20 September 2026, starting from 7:30am at Nielson Park, Bargara, adjacent to the Bundaberg Surf Club. Participants will follow the Coral Coast Pathway via the Mon Repos Turtle Centre to the Moores Road Car Park before returning to Nielson Park.
The walk is designed as a family-friendly fun walk rather than a race, giving the community an opportunity to come together, enjoy the outdoors and start conversations about mental health. It is open to everyone who has been impacted by mental health issues or cares about someone who has. Participants can walk with family, friends, colleagues or community groups, with the event also providing an opportunity for people to honour and remember loved ones who have experienced mental health challenges. Some families and friends have previously taken part wearing special shirts in memory of someone they have lost.
Funds raised through the event support Australian Rotary Health mental health research, with the organisers stating that 100% of funds raised go directly to research. The walk also aims to help people feel less alone, encourage open conversations about mental health and bring visitors to the Coral Coast, supporting local businesses and tourism.
