Hummock Lookout and Reserve

Hummock Lookout and Reserve
The Hummock Lookout and Reserve offers the best 360 view in town. We thoroughly recommend sunrise, sunset, or a night viewing for something different.
The Hummock is an extinct volcano situated half way between the Bundaberg CBD and Bargara. There are two main attractions when visiting the Hummock you should not miss, the Lookout and the Reserve.
Hummock Lookout
The Hummock Lookout provides great views of Bundaberg and her surrounds. The sight out to the ocean and over our farming community is picture perfect. This is a great place to stop for a family picnic. There is a large grassy area to spread out on with plenty of room for games and the kids to run around. Toilet facilities are located just a short walk around the corner at the Hummock Reserve.
Hummock Reserve
The Hummock Reserve is located on the north western side of the Hummock. It hosts one of the last remnants of the dry rainforest plant community, Woongarra Scrub. Situated at the base of the reserve is a small playground with picnic facilities, bbq area and toilets.
To explore the reserve take a walk along the boardwalk which climbs up to another lookout located on top of a water reservoir. This is an easy 10 minute walk with a few steps involved. The boardwalk is not suitable for prams and in some places the boards are a little too far apart for my liking, so be careful if you have small feet like I do.
What’s there:
Picnic tables, toilets, bbq, playground, boardwalk and great view. The boardwalk is a nice short walk and the lookout is great for family picnics especially in the cooler months.
What’s missing:
Be careful at the Hummock Lookout with small children as there is no fenced off area and traffic regularly comes and goes.
