Innes Park Beach
Innes Park Beach
The township of Innes Park Beach is a 20 minute drive from the Bundaberg CBD. This beach has lots of things to do for kids of all ages. You will find 2 playgrounds, a skate park, beach volleyball and an open range park area all within 10 meters of each other. This is a great beach to explore especially if you have children of various ages to keep busy.
Innes Park main attractions:
Beach
For young children the beach is best accessed at low tide. The main beach area straddles a tidal creek inlet which is littered with rocks and boulders. Care must be taken if swimming within the rushing creek inlet. This beach is not patrolled by lifesavers.
We love exploring the rock pools that litter almost the entire coastline. There are great change facilities, showers and toilets.
Playgrounds and Park area
There are 2 playgrounds located within walking distance of each other. The main playground is located on the foreshore right near the picnic areas and has a great climbing gym, sea-saw, swings and a few other small pieces of equipment. The other playground is located across the park heading north past the skate bowl. There is a large park area great for all kinds of games such as cricket and tiggie. The park is surrounded on one side by weeping trees and is an awesome place to play spotlight just on dusk.
Picnic areas
There are plenty of areas for picnics along the foreshore, with tables, bbq facilities, shelter and lots of shady trees. Make sure you pack the insect repellent as the sand flies can be furocious.
Volleyball
A beach volleyball net is set up right next to the change facilities which is heavily used. We have not yet been to this beach and seen it vacant. Our Wide Bay Kids are itching to have a go so pack a ball in case its free.
Skate Park
A fabulous skate park is located right near the beach volleyball net. Suitable for skates, scooters and bikes.
Walking Track
A walking track extends along the Esplande in both directions from the main beach area. The southern branch of the track extends right the way to Barolin Rocks some 1.7k away, taking in some fantastic ocean views. This track is suitable for prams, bikes, scooters, and skates. We love taking this walk in the cooler months in the middle of the day.
Facilities
What’s there
Great large park with plenty of open space, beach volleyball, skate park, and playgrounds. Picnic facilities, bbq’s, toilets, showers. Great walking track suitable for prams, bikes, scooters and skates. Great place to explore rocks and rock pools.
What’s missing
Pretty tricky beach to maneuver at high tide with small children.
