Netball Shooting for Success at Bundaberg Super Park
Nothing stands in the way of the Bundaberg region establishing itself as one of the
premier netball centres in the state according to Bundaberg Regional Council Mayor
Mal Forman. Cr Forman made the comment in relation to the impending opening of the new
Bundaberg Super Park Netball Complex on Saturday, April 18.
“The project involved the construction of 12 new courts, a club house, parking
facilities and appropriate lighting.
“The delivery of this $2.1 million project establishes yet another premier sporting facility here in the heart of the Bundaberg region,” Cr Forman said.
Council’s Sport and Recreation and Venues portfolio spokesperson Cr Lynne Forgan
said the courts would assist in bolstering the sporting hub that had been created at
the Super Park.
“Netball now sits alongside the athletics facility which is also certainly up to state and
national standard.
“There is little doubt that by offering these top class facilities we stand a great
chance of hosting some topline competition as well as ensuring our players are
afforded every opportunity to succeed.”
“The State Government Department of Sport and Recreation needs to be applauded
for working in conjunction with Council and the local Netball Association in providing
this new facility,” Cr Forgan said.
Cr Forman said the association’s previous home at Kendalls Flat had served it well
but the flood issues were a constant drain on resources as well as being a major
disruption to scheduled competition.
The opening ceremony will be attended by State Netball representatives and a host
of local netball association officials and Life Members. Member for Bundaberg
Leanne Donaldson will unveil a plaque to mark the occasion.
