Product Review – EasyRead Time Teacher
Product Review – EasyRead Time Teacher
The EasyRead Time Teacher is the simplest and most effective method of teaching time to children that I have come across for many years. As a primary school Teacher, I see students struggling with the concept of learning how to tell the time daily.
I recently tried the EasyRead Time Teacher system on my combined Prep, 1 and 2 class. To my delight I had instant success. It was amazing to watch (pardon the pun) this simple system in action and my class quickly grasping the concept of time telling.
The system divides the face of the clock into 2 halves, ‘past’ and ‘to’. Each number has its own box so there is no confusion as to where the hands are pointing, this makes it easy to determine minutes to or minutes past. I was surprised at how quickly my class were successfully telling the time, especially when some of them are only 5 years old!! My School Principal is so impressed that clocks have been ordered for every classroom in the school!
EasyRead have a free downloadable clock face on their website which I have used in my classroom. I got the kids to colour the clock face in. We then laminated them and used white board markers to make time settings. You could also use a split pin and have hands. You can download the free clock face printable HERE.
Like all good inventions the creator came up with the idea when his own children were struggling to learn how to tell the time at school. It is so simple I only wish I had thought of it myself. In fact, I love this system so much that I have started stocking the watches and clocks in my online store MUDPIES AND PIGTAILS. The 29cm clock and watches retail for $36.95 while the Classroom clock is $44.95.
I have been Teaching now for over 18 years and I have to admit it is my first love. I recently started up my online store which features kids clothing, accessories and bedroom décor and is something that I dabble with in my spare time.
