Reclaim the Night in Bundaberg

Everyone deserves to feel safe in their community, whether that's walking home, catching up with friends or simply being out after dark. This October, Bundaberg locals are invited to come together for Reclaim the Night, a community rally for safety, respect and freedom from sexual violence.
Reclaim the Night is on Friday 30 October from 5pm to 6:30pm at Buss Park, held as part of Sexual Violence Awareness Month 2026 and hosted by Phoenix House. The evening begins at 5pm with a guest speaker, author and activist Trish Wyatt. At 5:30pm, people are invited to bring a sign and join a march along Bourbong Street, before returning to Buss Park at 6pm for a time of reflection with music by Kara James. All are welcome, and there's no need to register.
Events like this give the community a chance to stand together and show that sexual violence isn't something to be kept quiet about. For survivors, it can be a reminder they're not alone, and for everyone else, it's a chance to listen, show support and be part of the conversation about respect and safety. For families, it's also a way to show young people that these are things our community talks about openly, and that everyone has a part to play in making Bundaberg safer.
