School Holiday Fun at CQUniversity Bundaberg Makerspace

Kids who love building, coding, robots and experimenting can get hands-on these Spring School Holidays with a series of workshops at CQUniversity Bundaberg Makerspace.
Designed for young makers, the program includes coding, LEGO® robotics, drones, engineering challenges and creative circuits. Most activities are aimed at children aged 8–16 years, with an introductory coding workshop available for younger children aged 4–10 years. Bookings are essential for all workshops.
Monday 21 September – Coding & Maker Missions
Coding Adventures! – An Introduction to Coding
A great introduction for younger kids, exploring the foundations of coding through hands-on activities with robots, games and patterning challenges.
Age guide: 4–10 years
Time: 10am–11.30am
Cost: $25 per child
Makers Missions – Create • Build • Play
Kids can take on a series of maker missions, from designing and constructing a robot to tackling an engineering challenge. They’ll also put a Dash robot to the test and experiment with different ways to solve each challenge.
Age guide: 8–14 years

Wednesday 23 September – LEGO® Robotics
LEGO® Robotics – Dragster Dash!
Build and race LEGO® dragsters in a fast-paced robotics challenge. Kids can experiment with designs, test their ideas and see just how fast they can make their dragster go.
Age guide: 8–16 years
Cost: $25 per child
LEGO® Robotics – Amusement Park
Design an interactive LEGO® amusement park and bring it to life with lights, sounds and movement. Kids will code their creations and discover how programming can turn their ideas into action.

Thursday 1 October – Drones & Creative Circuits
Drones (Basics) – Level 1
Discover the world of drones while learning about different types of drones, flight safety and basic flying skills, plus an introduction to coding for automated drone flight.

Light It Up! – Creative Circuits
Bring art into STEAM with a hands-on session using LEDs, batteries and creative design. Kids will learn how electricity flows while creating their own light-up craft to take home.

Friday 2 October – Coding & Advanced Drones
Code the Road! Sphero indi
Explore coding with Sphero indi robot cars. Kids will use colourful coding tiles to create routes and solve challenges.
Age guide: 8–16 years
Cost: $25 per child
Drones (Advanced) – Level 2
Take drone skills to the next level with obstacles and challenges that put precision flying skills to the test. Children must have previously attended the Drones (Basics) – Level 1 workshop.
