Bundaberg Train Rides at the Botanic Gardens
Bundaberg Train Rides at the Botanic Gardens
The Australian Sugar Cane Railway conduct train rides every Sunday on their track located in the picturesque Bundaberg Botanic Gardens.
The ASCR group organise the running, maintaining and restoring of locomotive related items which have significance to the sugar cane industry in the Greater Bundaberg region. Link with them via their Facebook Page.
The platform is located next to the Coffee Shop and Rose Garden and is easily accessible from the Mt Perry Road entrance to the gardens.Steam and diesel engines operate.
The ride takes about 10 minutes so there is never too long to wait for the next train to come. The train travels adjacent to the wetland area through bush, parkland and even the railway workshop.
This service is disability friendly and wheelchair accessible. There are 5 carriages that fit 6 adults comfortably in each.
The conductor uses a ticket puncher to record your entry, which the kids just love. All passengers are given an information sheet on the train which includes a colouring in section. There are currently 3 trains used for rides which are rotated. This means each time you go you most likely will not ride the same train you rode last time.
