TCAC NAIDOC Week Events – July 2025
Taribelang Cultural Aboriginal Corporation (TCAC) will host a series of free events during NAIDOC Week 2025 in Bundaberg. This year’s theme, The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy, celebrates the enduring strength of First Nations people, while focusing on cultural pride, legacy building, and community connection.
The program includes three events held across the region from Monday 7 July to Saturday 12 July. Each event is family-friendly, open to the public, and offers opportunities to learn, connect, and celebrate culture in safe and welcoming spaces.
NAIDOC Flag Raising Gathering
Date: Monday 7 July 2025
Time: 10am
Location: Buss Park, Bundaberg Central
Cost: Free
The NAIDOC Week program begins with a formal Flag Raising Gathering in the heart of Bundaberg. The Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and Australian flags will be raised in recognition of NAIDOC Week and the contributions of First Nations peoples. A welcome performance will be followed by morning tea, and community members are encouraged to attend and take part in this respectful and reflective event.
NAIDOC Celebration Day
Date: Friday 11 July 2025
Time: 10:30 am – 2:30 pm
Location: Alexandra Park West, Bundaberg
Cost: Free
NAIDOC Celebration Day is the main community event in the TCAC program. Set in the shade of Alexandra Park West, this family-friendly event includes a wide range of free activities, workshops, entertainment, and food options for all ages. Activities will include:
– Indigenous face painting
– Beading and weaving workshops
– Mosaic art making
– Jumping castle for children
– Free raffles throughout the day
– Live music from The Spargo Brothers
– Free BBQ for attendees
– Tea and coffee van
– Street pizza and hot chips available for purchase
This is a drug and alcohol-free event. All community members are welcome.
NAIDOC Community Sports Day
Date: Saturday 12 July 2025
Time: 9am – 3pm
Location: Queensland Indoor Arenas (QIA), 29 Bolewski Street, Avoca
Cost: Free
To close out the week, TCAC will host a Community Sports Day focused on social netball. This relaxed and friendly sporting event is open to all community members, regardless of skill level. Teams can be formed on the day, and spectators are welcome to come and support. The event includes free morning tea and a sausage sizzle.
This is a great opportunity to promote health, participation, and connection through sport, and is expected to attract a wide cross-section of the local community.
