My family made the trip to Childers this morning for the annual Childers Festival. We visit every year, we love it and this year was no exception.
We always try to arrive by 9am to avoid the busy lunch time crowd. This year we were in and out in 3.5 hours, a new record I think! The parking is always a bit tricky but we figure that by using one of the paid options we are supporting a local school or community group.
My mission every year at the Childers Festival is to enjoy a bowl of Gormet Calamari while listening to music on the main stage………….then browse the stalls while enjoying one of Mammino’s macadamia ice creams. I was able to achieve my mission and was not disappointed, the food was great, the variety of stalls was fantastic and the music was awesome!
DS7’s usual favourites the jumping castles and fairy floss were there but this year he joined with his Dad for a bit of Wide Bay Laser Skirmish. It was the first time for both of them and they loved it. DS7 decided they should be on opposite teams so they could shoot each other up! Typical boys! At $5 each and the game lasting for 10 minutes, DS7 was buggered by the end of it. Best $10 we spent all day!
It was so great to see the tiny town of Childers come alive once again, every person involved in this event should be extremely proud of themselves. Such a huge amount of effort goes into putting this event together and we are so lucky to be able to experience it right here in the Wide Bay. I am already looking forward to next year, what about your? Did you go the Childers Festival today? What did you think? What were your favourites?
