Bethlehem Live Returns to Bundaberg Christmas 2026

Christmas can easily become a blur of shopping and busy schedules, so it's nice when there's an event that gives families a reason to slow down and spend an evening together. Bethlehem Live is returning to Bundaberg this December, with a free community festival set up as a 1st-century village.
Bethlehem Live runs from Tuesday 15 to Friday 18 December 2026, from 6pm to 9pm each night at Bundaberg Central State School. It's presented by the Combined Churches of Bundaberg and SU Australia, and visitors can wander through a village set 2,000 years in the past. There are interactive marketplace stalls, live nativity re-enactments with real animals, traditional artisan craft demonstrations and a free petting zoo. Local food vendors will be on hand, and there's live music on the main stage. Entry is free, and everyone is welcome. Anyone who would like to volunteer on-site can register through their local church network.
For families, an evening like this offers something hands-on and easy to enjoy together, with plenty for kids to look at, touch and ask questions about. It's a chance to learn about the Christmas story in a setting that brings it to life, meet the animals and see local people put their time into something for the whole community. Events run by volunteers and local churches also show how much can come together when a community pitches in, and a free night out is always welcome in the lead-up to Christmas.
