Pageant of Lights Returns to Bundaberg CBD

For many Bundaberg families, the Pageant of Lights is the night the Christmas season really begins. Streets fill up, kids get a later bedtime and the CBD is lit up for the first time. This year's event is on in early December, with a free evening of music, food, markets and a parade.
The Pageant of Lights is on Thursday 3 December 2026 from 5:30pm to 9pm along Bourbong Street in the Bundaberg CBD. Live entertainment starts at 5:30pm across two stages, with food and market stalls set up around the area. At 7pm, the Christmas lights will be switched on, followed by a parade of Christmas floats rolling through the CBD. The event is free and family-friendly, so there's no need to book. It's also worth heading to Gallery Park, where the Twilight Artisan Market will have locally made Christmas treats and handcrafted gifts on offer.
Traditions like this give the community a reason to come together, and for kids, seeing the lights come on and the floats go by is often a Christmas highlight. For families, it's an easy evening out that doesn't cost anything to attend, with plenty to look at and listen to, and a chance to catch up with friends and neighbours along the way. It's also a good opportunity to support local stallholders and makers while getting into the festive mood. Arriving a little early is a good idea, so there's time to find a spot, have something to eat and settle in before the lights come on.
