Reading Eggs Hatching Day Bundaberg

Reading Eggs Hatching Day
Bundaberg’s reading eggs hatching day is set to coincide with the Dads Read initiative launch in Buss Park on Monday morning. Children from right across our region will finally find out what is growing inside the eggs.
Dads Read
Buss Park will come alive hosting a number of local Dads Read Ambassadors who will be spreading the message about the importance of fathers reading, talking and singing with their children daily. Dad’s Read is a regional literacy project encouraging dads to invest in their child’s future, and become reading legends in our community.
Free picture books for Dads and kids
Dads can learn more about becoming a Dad’s Read Ambassador at the event and Dads turning up with their kids will get a free picture book to share with them. The Dads Read Ambassadors will also be announcing the new 1 Book 1 Bundy title for the next 12 months!
Buss Park activities
Other activities on the morning will include a live broadcast from ABC Wide Bay, giveaways, free children’s activities and of course the hatching of the egg and the revelation of what is growing inside.
Egg hatching
With all these stories being read the two mystery eggs, discovered by the Rangers at Mon Repos in June, will finally hatch! The children of Bundaberg have been taking great care of the eggs and have reported they are growing larger and making noises! While one of the eggs was visiting children at FDC Footprints Kindergarten they believe they saw cracks starting to appear!
Family and Baby Network Facilitator, Angela Stedman said local children and families will all need to attend Monday’s event to help the eggs hatch. “Our Dads Read Ambassadors have a very special book to read to the eggs and then we will sing our special Hatching Song. We need as many children singing along to encourage the birth of our Paint Bundy REaD Reading Mascot”.
Paint Bundy REaD is an early literacy community project that is getting the whole community to read, talk, sign, rhyme, draw, yarn and move with children from birth, so they’ll be ready for reading and writing at school.
This event is a joint initiative of the Bundaberg Family and Baby Network in partnership with Bundaberg Regional Libraries First 5 Forever Project.
