Bucca Crossing Bundaberg

Bucca Crossing Bundaberg
Bucca Crossing is a tranquil picnic area just 25 minutes from the Bundaberg City Centre and somewhere our Wide Bay Kids love to visit. The Kolan River flows through the crossing making for a perfect swimming, snorkeling, fishing, and canoeing spot with kids.

Waterway
When you arrive at Bucca Crossing you are greeted by a small single carriageway over the Kolan River. I'm sold every time we arrive at this place and hear the sound of running water. I don't know what it is about this sound but I just love it!

Downstream is not really suitable for younger kids as the water is quite fast flowing. Upstream and just over the crossing is prefect for them though. The river has a weedy rocky base so depending on what your like underfoot will determine whereabouts you take a dip.
The water is very clear and we saw some tadpoles and small fish the last time we visited. Our younger Wide Bay Kids love snorkeling and fishing here and the older kids love the rope swing and canoeing.

Picnic Area
The picnic area is well maintained with toilet facilities just a quick walk up the hill. There are plenty of picnic tables but no shade.
It was really hard to find a cool spot to eat our lunch when we visited. I suggest bringing shade if you are going to make a day of it in the warmer months, alternatively head up behind the toilet block there is a nice shaded area up there.

What's There
Great waterway upstream for kids. Good for swimming, fresh water snorkeling, canoeing, kayaking or fishing. Plenty of picnic tables and parking. Toilets. Bucca Pub just up the hill.
What's Missing
No shade or bbq's. Waterway is very close to road.
