Lego Fun with a Twist in Childers

Most Lego sessions are about building something and keeping it just the way you made it. This January, a free school holiday activity is offering a different take, where kids have to let go of their creation and see what someone else does with it.
Lego Fun with a Twist is on Wednesday 6 January 2027 from 9:30am to 11:30am, run by Bundaberg Regional Council's Child and Family Support team in Childers. Children work in teams of two to six, starting with their own Lego build. When the timer sounds, each team moves to the next table and takes over another team's creation. There are mini challenges and prizes between rounds, so every build changes along the way before the finished creations are revealed at the end. It's open to children aged 0 to 12, the session is free, and bookings are essential. To book, contact Kim McDonald.
Rotating builds is a playful way for kids to practice teamwork, flexible thinking and handing over their work without getting upset about it. Having to adapt to someone else's idea, and watching others build on theirs, can be a good lesson in sharing and creativity, all while having fun. For parents and carers, it's a free, low-key morning out during the school holidays, with a chance to meet other local families. It also suits kids who already love Lego, as well as those who might need a nudge to join in with others, since the rotating format keeps things moving and gives everyone something to do.
