Football in the Park with Scott Prince to Promote Bundy Cup
Mayor Jack Dempsey and Councillors met with touch football star Scott Prince to hone their footy skills ahead of the 2016 Bundaberg Cup, slated for the weekend of 19-20 November.
Event Ambassador Scott Prince is in the Bundaberg Region to promote the event, which he’ll also be competing in.
Mayor Jack Dempsey said Scott Prince and the Bundaberg Cup had the strong support of Council, Touch Football Australia, Queensland Touch Football and Bundaberg North Burnett Tourism (BNBT).
“About 30 teams have already registered for the Bundaberg Cup, which is shaping up to be a huge sporting celebration for our region. As well as offering a great day of entertainment for locals, we’re hoping to attract visitors from far and wide,” Mayor Dempsey said.
“Locals know how fabulous this region is at this time of year. But there’s no point in keeping it a secret – we want everyone to know about the great attractions on offer. It’s turtle season, the weather is beautiful and some of the best touch football talent will be on show battling it out at the Greg Duncan Touch Fields. Why wouldn’t you want to visit with so much going on?
“They call it Australia’s ‘richest touch football knockout’ because the prize money amounts to $20,000. This is a very generous amount and offers a great incentive for players to compete, so spectators can expect to witness the best of the best competing here in the Bundaberg Region. Let’s show our support!”
