New Multi Modal Support Service for Parents
New Multi Modal Support Service for Parents
The Pregnancy, Birth and Baby service has expanded to provide a new multi modal support service for parents. The support service is available in a range of mediums for Australian families, offering advice and guidance for parents with children up to 5 years of age.
The new service includes support from maternal child health nurses including:
- emotional support for parents
- advice on children’s behaviour
- advice on children’s growth
- advice on children’s developmental issues
- can also provide referrals to local health service providers
The Pregnancy, Birth and Baby service has been set up to ensure that parents have as much information and support at their fingertips to help them navigate through all stages of their child’s development. The idea is that maternal child health nurses and counsellors will be on hand to support parents when they need it most. Whether this be from trying to conceive, throughout pregnancy, taking their newborn baby home, to raising toddlers and starting school.
The service can also offer guidance and reassurance to parents who are navigating through their child’s development and behavioural concerns, such as tantrums, toilet training, walking, talking and reading.
The expanded service is available in many forms via telephone by calling 1800 882 436 and video call as well as the Pregnancy, Birth and Baby website.
The telephone and video call options mean parents can seek expert advice and support for their children and themselves from the comfort of their own homes – no matter where they live in Australia. This provides direct verbal or face-to-face contact with qualified healthcare professionals for parents at any time of the day or night.
