Nourish Cafe Takes Bundy to the Farm
Nourish Cafe Takes Bundy to the Farm
Getting people “down on the farm” is the goal of Nourish Café owner, Judy Plath. Nourish Café, in partnership with Learmonth’s Foodworks, has announced their second Plate to Paddock Day where they will be taking customers to the farm of their milk supplier, CQ Dairy Fresh, so people can see firsthand where their food comes from.
On Saturday 16 November, Mrs Plath will take a bus load of Bundy locals to Coalstoun Lakes to visit the dairy farm of CQ Dairy Fresh owners, Robbie and Michelle Radel, in response to the growing community interest people are showing for supporting local producers. Mrs Plath said this trip has been planned as a result of the incredible feedback from a previous tour held in early October.

“People just raved about our first tour!” Mrs Plath said “We had 28 kids and 20 odd adults on the first tour and everyone was just so excited about the adventure of being on a working farm!”
“Once upon a time every family had a cousin or an uncle or a brother who was farming” Mrs Plath said “so their kids had the chance to visit a working farm regularly and understand where their food came from”.
“Unfortunately, in modern times, less and less of us have the chance to visit a working farm” Mrs Plath said “this farm tour gives Bundy locals the chance to visit a working dairy farm”.
“Coalstoun Lakes is only an hour and a quarter from Bundy” Mrs Plath said “Attendees will have the chance to see a working farm, learn more about how the dairy cows and calves are cared for and see the action of the afternoon milking first hand” Mrs Plath said “Plus, we’ll have a coffee machine and Barista on hand so we can all enjoy a Barista made coffee or hot chocolate right there in the milking shed!”.
CQ Dairy Fresh owner, Robbie Radel, said he is excited about the chance to show people how his farm produces milk. “We produce a boutique milk, which is rich and creamy, and it’s how we manage our herd that creates that great milk” Mr Radel said “We’re proud of the way we run our herd” Mr Radel said “and we’re very keen to share that with our customers”.
“We’ve teamed up with local supermarket, Learmonth’s Foodworks, to deliver this Farm Tour because Learmonths are such great supporters of local farmers” Mrs Plath said.
“This is the fourth Plate to Paddock day Nourish Café has run and people absolutely love it” Mrs Plath said.
